All Wales paediatric asthma management and prescribing guidelines from the All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC)
A paediatric patient pathway for Wales has been set out in these new guidelines
These new guidelines have been developed as part of an effort to help standardise care across Wales for children with respiratory disease. Produced through collaboration with the Welsh Paediatric Respiratory Network, representatives from all hospitals in Wales, and the Respiratory Health Implementation Group (RHIG), the guidelines set out a paediatric patient pathway for Wales.
The document consists of an easy-to-follow graphic showing steps for different age groups with referral thresholds and national medication choices. The accompanying notes give more detailed information covering:
- General principles of management
- Assessment of control and risk of exacerbation
- Treatment algorithms and referral thresholds
- Asthma review
- Self-management – NHS Wales AsthmaHub for Parents App
- All Wales ICST Education platform
