Flu vaccination template for occupational health
It is not permitted to use patient group directions (PGDs) to administer medication such as flu vaccines for occupational health services, following legal advice issued by NHS England. Instead, an organisational written instruction should be used or, alternatively, individual patient-specific directions (or prescriptions) would be required.
The written instruction is the simplest method and a pro forma example for flu vaccination has been developed which organisations can adapt for their purposes. Once signed by a doctor, it allows named registered nurses to administer the flu vaccine to the organisation’s staff, including peer to peer vaccinations. Immunisers should be trained and competent to work in accordance with the written instruction.
To obtain a copy of the pro forma written instruction, please contact Ashtons via customerservice@ahps.co.uk or discuss with the pharmacist.
