Accuracy Checking Technician – Welcome bonus up to £500

Purpose of the role:

As an Accuracy Checking Technician at our dispensary in Brighton, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our pharmaceutical products. Your attention to detail, precision, and knowledge of regulatory requirements will be instrumental in upholding our commitment to delivering safe and effective medications.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Perform accurate and thorough checks on prescriptions and medication orders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, company policies, and best practices.
  2. Verify the accuracy of compounded medications, including checking the correct drug, strength, dosage form, quantity, labelling, and packaging.
  3. Maintain precise records of all accuracy checks, including any discrepancies or errors identified during the process. Report findings to the appropriate personnel and assist in resolving any issues.
  4. Stay up to date with regulatory guidelines, industry standards, and company policies pertaining to accuracy checking. Adhere to all legal and ethical obligations related to medication safety and privacy.
  5. Work closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination in the accuracy checking process.
  6. Identify opportunities for process enhancements and contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Actively participate in training programs and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  7. Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management.

 

Essential Skills:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Dispensing
  • Accuracy Checking Qualification
  • Thorough understanding of pharmacy operations, prescription medications, dosage forms, and medical terminology. Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements, such as the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) guidelines.
  • Strong ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in reviewing and verifying prescriptions and medication orders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, allowing for collaborative interactions with diverse stakeholders.
  • Adherence to professional and ethical standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and data privacy.
  • Comfortable using computer systems, pharmacy software, and electronic health records (EHR) for accuracy checking and record-keeping purposes.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience in accuracy checking within a pharmacy or pharmaceutical setting is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
