Adult breathlessness pathway (pre-diagnosis): diagnostic pathway support tool from the NHS England

The NHS England has released a new diagnostic pathway support tool for adult breathlessness. The tool is designed to align clinical practice in primary care with guideline recommendations and reduce unwarranted variation for patients. It aims to optimise patient outcomes and focuses on chronic breathlessness presenting in primary care. It provides statistics and information about the scope of the problem, and misdiagnosis, as well as common or important causes of breathlessness. The pathway itself covers clinical assessment, what to do if the diagnosis is unclear, what to do if it remains unclear and then what to do for acute severe breathlessness with red flags identified.
