Formed in 2023, the ADHD Taskforce was established by NHS England to tackle challenges in ADHD services, particularly the growing demand and long waiting times. The taskforce includes representatives from health, education, justice, and government sectors, as well as people with lived experience of ADHD.

Listening to Lived Experience

The taskforce has made listening to people with ADHD a priority. Engagement sessions have been held across the country to hear directly from patients and families about the issues they face. NHS England is committed to co-producing solutions with those who use services, ensuring that future care is shaped by real-world experiences.

Focus Areas

The taskforce is focusing on key areas to improve ADHD care:

  • Supporting people on long waiting lists
  • Addressing unwarranted variation in services
  • Improving access to care across age groups
  • Increasing awareness and understanding of ADHD
  • Promoting evidence-based approaches

Next Steps

This plan will set out clear priorities and steps to ensure better support for people with ADHD. NHS England reaffirms its commitment to working with all partners and communities to build a system that delivers more timely, consistent, and effective care.
