SPS Using Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants during breastfeeding

New recommendations from the Specialist Pharmacy Service (SPS) have been published on using Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressants during breastfeeding, in January 2023. The recommendations, which apply to full term and healthy infants only, cover which medications are the SSRI’s of choice, as well as choice considerations, neonatal withdrawal syndrome and effect on breastfeeding.
